Chances Park

Chances Park in Carlisle has undergone extensive refurbishment over the last few years.

Carlisle City Council decided to upgrade the play facilities after consultation with the local schools. At the same time an old and rather large Turkey Oak was condemned due to ill health.

As this tree was such a feature of the park it was decided to incorporate the tree into the new play area… But in what way…??

The crown of the tree was removed in order to make it safe and this revealed a rather striking form…

We thought it looked like an Octopus, so we built Captain Nemo’s Nautilus to go alongside it!
